German Armenian Cooperation

When the then German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Armenia in August 2018, she was impressed by the innovative spirit pervading the country. She acknowledged the state-of-the-art IT solutions, the strong potential and the efficacy of the TUMO center that she visited and expressed intention to open a branch of it in Germany. The idea turned into a project and the branch of the center came into being in Berlin in 2020. The first major milestone preceding Merkel’s visit was the cooperation between the Fraunhofer IPK and the Armenian Institute Matenadaran. The cooperation of the Armenian government with the German company started in 2016 within the frames of the digitization and virtual recovery program of the ancient and medieval manuscripts.
